Will Jones

Will Jones grew up in Virginia, 15 minutes from Mount Airy, NC, the tiny town that inspired Mayberry on The Andy Griffith Show. Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the area is rich with nature’s beauty and the bluegrass music that’s as synonymous with the Appalachian region as the namesake trail that runs through it. Will couldn’t escape it – and he didn’t want to.

Will started early. His dad is a musician, too, and filled their home with the sounds of mandolin, banjo and fiddle. Will was a fast learner, and by the time he was 7 years old, he was playing guitar in his dad’s regional touring band. “If you weren’t ever really raised around it, it’s kind of a foreign genre,” Will says of bluegrass. “Around that neck of the woods, it’s pretty much what everybody does.”

The music that rooted him to the mountains of Virginia/North Carolina has now carried him to Nashville to chase his long-held bluegrass/country music dreams. Will is country with a sharp bluegrass edge that is undeniable.
